For upcoming project that I am currently searching answers for. Having
been God for a while, after sorting FORMS I am now a disciple once more,
with DHTML as my Yoda. This project will all run from the hard disk of a
machine and use IE4 so no problems with stuff like file download times
etc.........
Here are the questions:-
1) Are javascript mouseovers with sound possible?
For example we can get image swapping so it appears that the mouse makes
the icon "light up". Is there a method of getting a sound to play
instead of the image swap? Better still is there a way to combine the
two elements so that you can get the "lit up" image AND a sound? Discuss
for 20 points.
2) Re: that "splash page" - example 3 at
http://www.planetsound-arts.co.uk/randy/examples.html
Would it be possible to replace the static image with a video clip,
either mpeg or one of the other formats? Ie put the moving video clip
into the sliding layer instead of the still image? I suppose a way
around that would be to use an animated .gif should video not be
possible. (05 points)
3) Once I sorted out a javascript slideshow. Is it possible to do this
WITH a sound narrative over the top? I suppose one way would be to have
a link to the slideshow page and the visitor can click to go to this
page, and have that particular page with the .wavfile Embedded. This is
my back up plan should the method of having the user stop and start the
sound and slideshow not work.In short, can the wav files be controlled
by javscript, the same way as the slideshow can be?
I was once told by a very wise man "sure. You can do ANYTHING with
javascript". It is now time to test the wiseness of this man.
