i'm just curious to know if this has to do with overlapping the map
coordinates, or is it just plain buggy in some browsers?  anybody know?
i've seen it work on some browsers, but not others, but i've never seen (or
noticed, rather) it selectively work as described...

I've found that alt tags in image maps can be a flaky thing. I have NN 4.7
an IE4 on Windows NT and yours showed up on the screen nicely.
However, I've seen image maps where the alt tags show up only a few times
(or only 5 out of 8 show)and then disappear or not show up at all. Go
figure...

okay, i took a look at the eandscon home page

the image alt tag "elliott & swartz menu" works, but not the individual
menu item alt texts

not sure if this is just my browsers -- ie4 and nn3 on win95 -- but i can't
get them to show area alt tags at all
