Java Applet or Flash?

Hello,

My Website, whose URL is:

http://www.post1.com/home/genie/

or alternatively:

http://www.radiolink.net/genie

uses a Java applet for its buttons on the left.

As for these buttons, I was in doubt on whether I should use a Java applet 
or Flash. I chose the former as I feared that only browsers with Flash 
plugins would have been able to see the latter. Is that correct? However, 
Netscape browsers seem to be unable to see the applet. What would you think 
would be a preferable option, to use a Java applet or Flash for these 
buttons? In this context can we assume that there are more Netscape 
browsers than browsers which are not Flash enabled?
