Lauri and Jeniffer:

I wish I had a simple and "pat" answer for how to control the meta
http-equiv line but I don't.

In fact, I have just checked over the source code of several of my own pages
and found the following on a "few" of them:

<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//IETF//DTD HTML//EN">

As I tend to use my pages as templates all the time, I have no idea where
that line came from. My FP is apparently NOT doing it as the majority of the
pages I just checked, have no DOCTYPE statement at all. And as far as I can
recall, my FP-98, (version 3.0), was the original creator of them all.
Strange???

(And please, everybody--let's leave the war over the necessity of such a
DOCTYPE statement for another time--right now we are just trying to figure
why it shows on some pages and not on others.)

The only "far out in left field" thing I can think of--is that on rare
occasions I have used the Explorer part of FP. Could it be that when saved
as a web rather than a page, different goodies are sprinkled about??

In an attempt to gather more information, I have posed this question to the
experts over on the FP mailing list. Hopefully, in a few hours we may
receive some enlightenment.

Best wishes to all

P.S. In Word, when it "Auto Corrects" in error, just right click the word
and tell Word to restore it to the way you typed it. It will leave it alone
after that.
