Regarding turning down a client: If that's what you want to do, by all
means do it! With the least amount of personal grief! Look, any business
person that is wasting your time should be shoved aside. I don't mean to
sound brutal, but the business world *is* brutal. Business people
understand that: if they don't they either soon will or will be out of
business!
Most of you are professional programmers and amateur salespeople. I'm a
professional (and seasoned) salesman and amateur programmer. You folks have
helped me out a lot in the past. Let me share my expertise with you. I have
*half* your ability yet land *huge* accounts. How? By targeting the top. My
policy is: Throw the little ones back. Look, there are only so many hours
in the day! All my local *competitors* are fighting over the $500-$2,000
web sites. My 4th web site cost the client just south of 5 figures. I just
put in a bid for a national contract, and I'll probably get it. Not only
that, but for the little fish I put up a web site detailing how they can
build their own without me! (It's called cutting off your competitors'
oxygen.) If you want, you can see it here:

Here's a cardinal rule in business: Don't waste your time, because it's the
only thing you've got! So go after the big fish, throw the little ones back
and laugh all the way to the bank!
